It's hard to believe the month of December has gone by so fast and that Christmas is only four days away. My outlook on Christmas this year has been so much different as we could not afford to buy any presents probably for the first time. I accepted that and was truly okay with that primarily because I think Christmas has become too much of a commercialized holiday anyway. Adults and Children alike focus so much more on the expensive or elaborate gifts they are giving or receiving but I wonder if they even know why we give gifts at Christmas time. I had wondered that myself for the past few years and was reminded of the answer in the scriptures. The wise men brought Jesus gifts and though they were expensive gifts they were meant more than anything to show love for the baby Jesus. Relating that to us in current times means that we give gifts to others to show our love for them. I think of times past when people were not able to just run to the store and spend hundreds of dollars on a gift. They hand made gifts, sometimes putting hours or even months into the making of them all with the thought of making the recipient happy. That to me, is a gift that shows love.
"For unto us is born this day in the city of David a Savior, Which is Christ the Lord" Luke 2: 11
