This is how I have been weeding my garden. Rather than bending over and trying to pull the weeds out and not always getting the roots out. I have been digging down and getting below the roots then bringing buckets up to the porch and taking my time getting the grass, weeds and roots out.
You can see the grass on the right and the dirt that needs to be separated from the grass on the left. So much easier doing it this way.
Bucket waiting to be filled.
I am getting there. Three down and I don't know how many to go. I seriously need a new weed whacker.
This one will be next. The pumpkins will soon be getting too big for their pots and will want a new home. Right now it's kind of storage for the bags of Soil Pep and one T post.
I wanted to add a picture of a our turkey manure pile from last fall and the ashes in the fire pit to this picture. Unfortunately that didn't work out. You may be asking yourself why. Actually the answer is pretty simple. Soil needs a good mixture of Nitrogen (Turkey Manure) Phosphate (Bone Meal) and Potassium (Wood Ashes). I wanted to find a natural way to fertilize my garden because I don't like the thought of having to depend on store bought fertilizer. Some day we may not be able to, but I will still be able to fertilize my garden. What I need to get better at is composting and I will start that sometime this year.
And lastly our back yard is finally getting cleared out. Yay! We got a load ready to go down this morning and will probably have to make about three trips to get it all done.
That was a lot of pictures this morning but shows you the kind of progress one person on time constraints can make in the garden if you simply keep at it.
Until next time.
