Jack Halverson continued
Jack awoke Monday morning to the ringing of his phone on the nightstand next to the bed. He'd been out here all weekend weighing the odds, the pros and cons, and thinking about things that he'd pushed aside for too many years. Throughout all of it one thing was very clear and couldn't be put off much longer. He had to go and see the Red Star for himself and he had to do it very soon.
His phone stopped ringing then started up again and John knew he had to answer it. He'd been refusing his mother's calls all weekend long, even shutting off his phone for periods at a time.
"Where on earth have you been?, we've all been worried sick after you just left the way you did"
"Nice to hear your voice too" Jack said sarcastically
"What is going on Jack?"
"Something you aren't going to like very much, but don't worry you'll find out soon enough" Jack answered hanging up the phone before she could yell anymore. He didn't mind antagonizing her when he had to because she could be overbearing on her best days.
His next call was to Maria to let her know he needed two weeks freed up on his schedule. Such an impossible feet would probably take her all of Monday and into Tuesday but it had to be done.
