Then, this morning I saw this and my heart just dropped.
Directly at the bottom of the picture is the door that went up and down. It blew out when the roof came down barely missing my lawn tractor with the snowblower attachment on it.
Starting Sunday night and continuing all day Monday we received several feet of snow in just a twenty four hour period. This came after a previous storm with heavy snow on Friday and Saturday. The roof on the garage had never been at a steep enough pitch and we have always had to have it shoveled off. It was mostly shoveled off when this occurred but the amount of snow we received was just too much.
It destroyed my car, my husbands motorcycle and my daughters boyfriends motorcycle but somehow spared the snowmobiles and most importantly the Christmas ornaments, some of which are very old.
I totally freaked out at first but after a while a feeling of calm came over me. Everything is going to be okay. Whatever okay is after the insurance adjusters come I'll be okay with because I feel this is just another trial Heavenly Father has given to us and how I handle it is up to me. I can become stronger and better from this or I can let it beat me. I have finally gotten to the point where I told Heavenly Father to "bring it on". That could be a little dangerous but what I meant was that if he needs me to become stronger or learn something from this then I will do it.
Enough of that now. Here are some other pictures I took this morning to give you an idea of how much snow we got.
This is maybe a quarter of the way into our driveway and it was done by a front end loader driven by some of our great neighbors. Our street had over two feet of snow for about a day and a half and when the plow finally came it blocked in our driveway to where we wouldn't have been able to drive in with our Silverado.
In this picture you can see the top of our three tier pipe fence which comes close to my shoulder. The snow is all the way to the top.
